What is Hearing Loss?
If you suffer from hearing loss, you’re not alone. Approximately 39 million Americans age 18 and over report some trouble hearing.7 Many patients who experience hearing loss are not aware of it. It can be a very slow, progressive condition in which those around them notice it before they do.
If someone has untreated or unrecognized hearing loss, they are more likely to become isolated, experience dangerous falls or cognitive decline, and suffer from fatigue. In addition, studies have linked hearing loss to heart disease, diabetes, depression, and dementia. Early diagnosis is critical to preventing these problems.
At The Center for ENT, our audiologists can administer an array of hearing tests to determine your needs. After your assessment, we will connect you with the most effective treatment option so you can become part of the conversation again.

Hearing Tests
One of our experienced, expert audiologists will conduct a thorough evaluation, which includes administering a comprehensive audiogram (hearing test) in a state-of-the-art sound booth. The audiogram allows our audiologist to diagnose the type and degree of hearing loss so we can effectively guide your treatment. Your testing may include any or all of the following:
Pure Tone Audiometry
Using headphones connected to an audiometer, we ask you to respond to tones and words of varying frequencies and volume levels to help the audiologist determine your degree of hearing loss.
Bone and Air Conduction Tests
Bone and air conduction tests help determine what type of hearing loss you’re experiencing: conductive (problems with the outer or middle ear) or sensorineural (problems with the inner ear).
Speech Reception and Word Recognition Tests
The audiologist will ask you to repeat a series of words spoken at normal conversational levels to determine your hearing and speech recognition levels.
Rejoin The Conversation
A hearing condition doesn’t have to disconnect you from the world. With sophisticated and discreet technology, our treatment options for hearing loss are vast. Why miss out when you can start hearing better today?
Hearing Loss Treatment Options
Hearing loss is very treatable. In some cases, it may even be reversible. Our thorough evaluation will determine the right treatment for you.
Hearing Aids
We offer ground-breaking hearing aid technology and custom-fit ear products, bringing you a powerful hearing experience with devices that are less conspicuous. Programmed by experienced specialists, our digital hearing aids offer clear, quality hearing assistance
Assistive Listening Devices
Designed for specific listening environments, assistive listening devices (ALDs) are electronic components that help a person with hearing loss communicate. They separate speech from background noise, helping to improve the speech-to-noise ratio in places such as churches, theaters, and museums.
Medical Treatments for Reversible Hearing Loss
Hearing loss isn’t always permanent. There are several causes that can result in temporary hearing loss, such as earwax buildup or trapped fluid due to an ear infection. Sudden hearing loss is reversible in many cases; up to half of patients with this condition can regain hearing with appropriate, timely treatment.
Communication Strategies
Even with hearing loss, you can still be an active participant in conversations. We teach you how to use effective communication strategies that will help you feel more comfortable when speaking with others.
Unsurpassed Personal Patient Care
Communication can be a challenge for patients with hearing loss. We offer the utmost professionalism, compassion, and individualized care to help remove that challenge from your life.
